You might be asking, who is Fox?
It’s a question that’s come up often over the past four years of building the Fox brand here in South Africa.
So who is the power behind the power?
The Fox ESS company is part of a global Fortune 500 powerhouse, a group of companies that achieved $62 billion in turnover last year. It’s a staggering number, and one that’s hard to truly grasp. To put it into perspective, South Africa’s entire national turnover — every business, every industry, every ounce of gold and iron ore, every salary paid — was $400 billion last year. In other words, the Fox Group alone represents nearly 15% of South Africa’s total economy.
But the scale doesn’t stop there.
The company currently has a battery production capacity of 52GW per year.
For comparison, South Africa’s national grid has around 27GW of available generation capacity. In one year, they can produce enough battery storage to nearly double the country’s entire grid output.
Next year, the group’s planned capacity will reach 100GW — almost four times South Africa’s current generation capability.

Across the world, the brand has established a strong presence in renewable energy markets:
- In the UK, one in every two residential hybrid inverters sold carries the Fox ESS name.
- Across Europe, it ranks number two overall.
- In South Africa, one in every seven systems is a Fox ESS system.
