Fox EVO Inverter Testing: Built for South African Power Challenges

Putting the Fox EVO to the Test

At our MSPD Africa Lab, we ran three Fox EVO units in parallel and pushed them against “the enemies of hybrid inverters” — ovens, heaters, kettles, tumble dryers, air conditioners, and more. In other words, the kind of heavy, unpredictable loads South African households face every day.

  • In one test, the EVOs ran in backup (EPS) mode, smoothly handling loads of up to 16kW across three inverters, with a peak inrush current of 153A captured on the oscilloscope.
  • In another test, a single Fox EVO unit ran at 10kW sustained output, peaking at 84A inrush current, well above its rated current — without a hitch.
  • Even with a lower battery state of charge (37–43%), the system still managed to hold steady under multiple appliances switching on and off, including the high surge demand of tumble dryers and kettles.

These results prove that the Fox EVO doesn’t just meet its specs — it exceeds them, absorbing spikes and keeping loads stable in conditions where other inverters might trip or fail.
