Decentralised Solar Power Solution at Lake Michelle
At MSPD Africa, we support installers who deliver practical, long-term energy solutions. For example, the decentralised solar power solution recently installed at Lake Michelle meets the estate’s need for uninterrupted power to pond pumps and SECH (Sewage and Effluent Control Hub) systems — especially during load-shedding.
Moreover, we proudly support AWPower, the expert installer who executed this project with precision and care.

Why Lake Michelle Chose a Decentralised Solar Power Solution
Lake Michelle faced a familiar challenge. Load-shedding often cuts power to pond pumps and SECH systems, which require round-the-clock electricity. Consequently, these outages threatened both the estate’s water system functionality and residents’ comfort.
Therefore, the estate trustees explored alternatives and concluded that a decentralised solar power solution would provide the independence and reliability they needed — without relying on the grid or costly diesel generators.
How a Distributed Solar Energy System Was Implemented
To address this, AWPower designed a fully distributed solar energy system tailored to the estate’s layout. They installed compact utility sheds at key points, each equipped with a 30kW FoxESS inverter and Fox EP-10 batteries. This setup ensures reliable energy storage and silent, continuous operation.
As a result, each pond pump and SECH unit operates independently. Even if one system requires maintenance, the others continue running — a major benefit of decentralised energy solutions.
Key Components of the Off-Grid Power Solution
Every off-grid power station at Lake Michelle was built using top-tier components:
- JA Solar Panels provide consistent, high-efficiency energy generation
- 30kW FoxESS inverters offer robust, scalable hybrid functionality
- Fox EP-10 batteries store energy efficiently and safely
- Secure sheds and fencing protect the equipment and ensure a clean, professional look
Together, these systems allow pond pumps and SECH hubs to run 24/7, regardless of grid conditions or load-shedding stages.
Results of the Decentralised Solar Power Solution
Thanks to this well-planned rollout, Lake Michelle now benefits from a cost-effective decentralised solar power solution that keeps critical systems online. Importantly, the solution is quiet, reliable, and designed to scale with the estate’s needs.
Consequently, residents express satisfaction, trustees feel confident, and AWPower delivered quality and care at every step.
